Bi Lo Ribbon Cutting
Nov. 18 – Ribbon Cutting for Bi-Lo of Seneca
The Bi-Lo Store held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the store's recent remodel. The "new look" has an open layout with more room for displays. This investment provides 10 new jobs with more to be added in the near future. Congratulations Bi-Lo!
Nov. 17 – Oconee County Town Hall Meeting in Walhalla It may have been a small drown that turned out for the third Town Hall Meeting, but the questions for the Oconee County council and Administrator were good and the dialogue useful. Janet Smalley acted as moderator. The fourth Town Hall will be held in Salem in the first quarter of 2012.

Nov. 15 – Business After Hours at The Ballenger House This was a great event and everyone enjoyed the beautifully decorated house and terrific food.

Oct. 11 – Turner's Jewelers The Turner Staff welcomed Chamber members to a Business After Hours with fine refreshments and discounts on jewelry and gift items.

October 3 - Steak in Oconee
The first annual Steak in Oconee Dinner to Dr Lucas addressing crowdcelebrate agriculture in Oconee County was a huge success. Dr. Lucas (left) was a guest speaker as was Hugh Weathers, SC Commissioner of Agriculture.

Tickets for the 200-seat dinner were sold out almost two weeks in advance. The crowd enjoyed local steaks or chicken prepared by Rodney Quick and his team of chefs-in-training from the Hamilton Career Center, as well as vegetablesSteak in Oconee crowdand dessert made from Oconee produce. A sincere thank you to the sponsors who made this event possible.

A Video on agriculture called "A Visit with Oconee Farmers" was premiered. The video was presented by the Oconee Chamber of Commerce and produced by GBA Productions.

Sept. 2 - Ribbon Cutting for Precious Cargo Dive, a new diving business providing equipment, instruction and organized dive trips.
 
July 14 - Second Oconee Council Town Hall Meeting took place at the Historic Depot in Westminster. A variety of questions were answered by the county council members and Scott Moulder, County Administrator. The next Town Hall meeting will be in Salem in October.
 
 
July 12 - Ed Land of Chattooga Belle Farm talks about his business during the BAH event sponsored by the Rabun County (GA) and the Oconee County (SC) Chamber of Commerce.

Representative Jeff Duncan (center) opened an office in Seneca to better serve area residents. May 24 - Ribbon Cutting and Business After Hours at Palmetto Ridge Event Center to celebrate the complete renovation of this banquet facility located between Seneca and Clemson.

May 19 - Business After Hours for Wildwater, Nantahala Outdoor Center and Southeastern Expeditions. Many Chamber members took advantage of the opportunity to go rafting and ziplining. And everyone gathered for refreshments at the new pavillion at Wildwater. 

May 12 -Business After Hours and Ribbon cutting at Seneca Healthcare. It was a great event with 50+people who toured the new facility and enjoyed food, fun and networking with others.

April 7 - First Oconee County Town Hall Meeting was recently held in Fair Play. The hall was filled with area residents as well as those from other communities. The next Town Hall meeting will be in Westminister in July.

Dr. Mitchell "Mick" Zais, SC Superintendent of Education spoke as did The Honorable Jim DeMint, US Senator and Representative Jeff Duncan. Following the program, there was a Business after hours for all Chamber members.

The Business of Oconee Expo was held Thursday, Oct. 28 and it was a huge success! Attendance was estimated at 1,200 - 1,500--more than anyone expected! Over 50 exhibitors, kids in Halloween costumes and music by the Conservation Theory Band.
